Before You Begin

Michigan State University has adopted eduroam, which is used by many educational institutions as a secure way to offer WiFi to campus visitors. Eduroam is available at many universities across the state and country, as well as some other locations. No registration is required. Connect using your login credentials anywhere the Eduroam SSID is broadcast.

Steps

  1. Open WiFi settings

  2. Select Eduroam from the list
  3. Select the following options (unless for a Pixel device):
    • EAP Method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    • CA certificate: Don't Validate
    • Identity: MSU email address  (example sparty@msu.edu)
    • Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
    • Anonymous Identity: Password associated with MSU email address
    • For a Pixel Device, use these instead:
      • EAP method: PEAP
      • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
      • CA certificate: Trust on First use
      • Identity: MSU email address  (example sparty@msu.edu)
      • Anonymous Identity: <your netid>
      • Anonymous Identity: Password associated with MSU email address
      • Under advanced options make sure Use device mac is selected

  4. Select Auto reconnect
  5. Select Save
