Objective
Following these steps will map a network printer from your new location to your machine.

Before You Begin
The printers are mapped by a Group Policy (GPO), therefore if the printer(s) are not showing, contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.
Do not attempt to map the printer by the IP address.
Steps
To connect to a printer through the network share:
- Click Start and enter in \\clinical_printserver\ in the run box.
- Press Enter.
- Pressing Enter will open up a window with all printers listed on the server.
- Right-click and a drop down option appears and select Connect.
- The printer will then install/connect to the local machine.
- Set your default Printer.
- You're done!
To connect to a printer through the browser:
- In order to use this feature you need to open your Edge browser.
On older printers some of them may not have the option to connect through the web client and may need to browse through the network path.
- Navigate to http://infprt01.hc.msu.edu/printers (link)
- To connect to a printer, simply find the printer you wish to connect to, and select it. You’ll be taken to a screen that looks like the below image.
- Click on Connect.
- You will be prompted to ask if you wish to connect to this printer, click YES to add the printer connection.
- Select Set as default.
- You're done!
Additional Info
How to identify the printer location:
- Print server name: clinical_printserver, infprt01 (either of these names work)
- Printer you wish to connect to: East Fee 5th Floor 1
