Objective
Windows devices require complex configuration to connect to the Michigan State's authenticated Wi-Fi networks.The university partners with SecureW2 to issue user certificates and aid with device setup. Following these steps will walk you through the process of downloading and installing the necessary software to connect your Windows device to the eduroam wireless network.

Before You Begin
Michigan State University has adopted eduroam, which is used by many educational institutions as a secure way to offer WiFi to campus visitors. eduroam is available at many universities across the state and country, as well as some other locations.
Steps
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network with Internet access.
If on campus, MSUnet Guest is recommended
- If you connect to MSUnet Guest, when the welcome page loads, select Accept & Connect to get Internet access.
- Open a web browser and go to wifi.msu.edu. This will take you to the SecureW2 site.
- When the page loads, confirm that it says Windows. If it does not, use the picklist to select Windows.
- Select JoinNow.
- When the installer finishes downloading, go to your Downloads folder.
- Run the program you downloaded: MichiganState_Wi-Fi_Installer.exe.
- Select Next to initiate Michigan State's Web Sign-on. Sign in if prompted.
You may not be prompted if your browser is already signed in
- Set-up should automatically finish and connect if the network is in range. Once Joined is displayed, select Done.
Additional Info
Post Installation Notes:
- If you get a message saying "Configuration succeeded", but your computer failed to connect, select Continue then select Done to finish the installation. Your computer is successfully configured.
- When the installer closes, you may have to manually connect to the eduroam network the first time. Once connected, subsequent connections should be automatic.
Troubleshooting:
If you're unable to connect, restart your device and try again. If the issue persist, contact the MSU IT Service Desk.
