FastPass utilizes built-in or external hardware to provide a close-to-passwordless login experience while better protecting the MSU community from phishing attempts and other cybersecurity threats. Follow these steps to install Okta FastPass on your managed macOS device.

Before You Begin

You will need a valid and working Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credential to perform these steps.

Steps

  1. From your desktop, select the JAMF icon near the top-right and then choose Get Software Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  2. You may need to select Log in from the bottom-left of the Self Service window to display all MSU-related content
  3. Select Browse from the menu on the left, then scroll down to find Okta Verify and select InstallUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. It may take a moment for the installation to complete. When it is ready the Install button will change to Open
  5. In a web browser, navigate to auth.msu.edu
  6. Select Sign in with Okta FastPass from the login screenUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. A prompt may open requesting to Open Okta Verify. Select the checkbox and then select Open Okta Verify to continueUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  8. On the "Welcome to Okta Verify" screen that opens, select Get startedUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  9. Enter your MSU email address and select NextUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  10. Verify your log in with the two credentials of your choice (likely Password and a MFA credential you've set up previously)Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  11. You may be prompted to enable Touch ID at this point. This will allow you to authenticate to Okta FastPass using your fingerprint.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  12. Okta Verify will prompt you to authenticate. Select Use Password...Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  13. After completing this step Okta FastPass should be configured to authenticate to your account.
  14. Going forward, the option to Use Okta FastPass will be an option for logins.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
