Request a PIN

All MSU faculty, staff, and affiliated persons need a 4-digit PIN is needed to activate a NetID for the first-time.
NEW Faculty and Appointed Visiting Scholars: Read before submitting your request

NEW Faculty and Appointed Visiting Scholars should contact the ID Office at (517)355-4500 to determine if your paperwork has been fully processed through your department and MSU Human Resources.

Note that if you were previously a student at MSU you will retain the same NetID that you were assigned as a student, however your privileges will be updated.

The first name of the individual that the PIN is for.
The middle name of the individual that the PIN is for.
The last name of the individual that the PIN is for.
The NetID of the individual that the PIN is for. This is their username at MSU (between 2 and 8 alphanumeric characters).

PIN Delivery

Provide a non-MSU email address to receive your PIN via File Depot (https://filedepot.msu.edu).

The sender of the email notification will appear as "File Depot (help@msu.edu)". You may need to check your SPAM/Junk email folders to find the message.

For faster service, call the MSU ID Office at 517-355-4500 during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-4:45pm EST) to receive your PIN.
Email address which is not your @msu.edu email address that the PIN information link can be sent.
