The Broad College of Business provides faculty and staff with access to university-licensed ChatGPT subscriptions to support teaching, research, advising, and administrative functions. All ChatGPT purchases must be initiated and processed through Broad College of Business IT. It is the responsibility of the employee to adhere to College, University, and applicable data governance and acceptable use policies when using ChatGPT or related AI services.
License Term and Renewal
ChatGPT licenses are part of an annual University contract that is renewed on March 27. All licenses expire on this date, regardless of purchase date, and new licenses are prorated. Activation may take up to 48 business hours, and users will receive an email once active. Renewal notices are coordinated by Broad IT and may also come from the MSU Tech Store.
Funding and Eligibility
All ChatGPT license purchases must be requested through Broad IT, regardless of the funding source.

Faculty with Research Accounts: Should use those accounts when appropriate.

Departments that have budgeted: For ChatGPT licenses may purchase access directly through their unit's funds.

For those without access to other funding sources: The Broad College of Business's Deans Office will subsidize a limited number of licenses using a gift account. These licenses are a scare resources and will be allocated based on demonstrated business need. Please indicate this request for support when completing the IT form as well as your supervisor's support.
Request Process
A ticket must be submitted to Broad IT using the following form: Request Form - Broad Software. Broad IT will confirm eligibility, process the order, and provide activation details.
