Virtual Private Network (VPN) - Setting up the F5 Campus VPN for Linux

Objective

Following these steps will connect to MSU's virtual private network (VPN) on your Linux device.

Environment

Before You Begin

BIG-IP VPN is only accessible via Web Browser from Linux Clients - there is no client to download

See KB 36 (link) for the requirements to access MSU's VPN.

Steps

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to vpn.msu.edu (link).
  2. Log in with your NetID and password.
  3. Complete two-factor authentication.
  4. You're done! You should now be successfully connected to the F5 VPN’s web client. From this location you can select which VPN level you wish to use for your connection.

Additional Info

The VPN connection, by itself, does not present options to access MSU resources. Once connected, it treats your device as if it is located on campus.
