Body
Objective
Following these steps will update the Credential ID used for e-prescribing (EPCS).
Environment
Athena e-prescribe
Before You Begin
You will need a valid code from your old credential to complete this process. If you do not have your old phone, contact the IT Service Desk at (517)432-6200 to submit a request for a temporary code from the ITS Clinical Operations group.
Steps
- Log in to MSUHealth / Athena
Providers who practiced in MSUHealth/athena prior to
7/1/2020 must toggle to their previous username (aka “main” username):
- Select the old HT department (not ending in HC or SHS) from the drop-down option in the bottom right corner.
- EXAMPLE: If current department= “Sports Med – Eyde Suite 420 – HC”, select “Sports Med – Eyde Suite 420” to trigger main username in top right corner.
- Select the Settings (gear) icon and select User Profile
- Select the Credentials tab and select Add new
- Enter the Security code and select Authenticate
- Download Symantec VIP Access on your new device
- Complete the configuration within Athena by entering:
- Credential: the credential ID (alpha numeric, no spaces) from the Symantec VIP Access app on your phone,
- Nickname: optional, may be useful if you have multiple credentials,
- Security Code: the rolling code from the Symantec VIP Access app on your phone,
- Password: the athenaNet specific password created in the Password tab of the User Profile (created outside of the NetID password workflow).
- Select Add
- Delete the old credential to eliminate confusion - select Delete next to the old credential listing
- You're done! If you had to toggle your department to complete this process, toggle back to your correct department listed with the HC or SHS ending.
