Cognos - Errors Related to Cognos Session Time Outs

Summary

Since EBS has been moved behind Okta users have been experiencing various issues related to Cognos session timeouts. There are three primary error messages a user might receive when this occurs. This article details the workarounds.

Problem

Cognos may time out and throw one of the following errors (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Unexpected Server Response
  • HTTP Error 431
  • Unable to Load Requested View

Resolution

  1. Clear cache and cookies from the affected browser. See KB 15 (link) for details.
  2. Close completely out of all browser windows.
  3. Open an incognito/InPrivate browsing window and use that to access Cognos. See KB 1203 (link) for details.
  4. You're done!
