Considerations Before Requesting a NetID Change

  • If you are an HR Payroll Approver or HR Unit Administrator, you must complete all approvals prior to the change. Unapproved items at the time of the NetID change will not be accessible following the change.
  • NetID changes require a phone appointment with ID Office staff. Once your request has been received, the ID Office may contact you to acquire any additional information needed.
When the new NetID has been selected and verified, you will be notified via email. This notification will include a link to schedule an appointment time to process the change.
  • After completing the NetID change phone appointment, you lose access to MSU systems, such as EBS, email, D2L, payroll, etc., for up to 5 business days.
  • You will need to re-register for Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) after your NetID change is complete.
  • If you have MediaSpace videos, Zoom meetings (including recurring meetings), and Qualtrics surveys that need to be transferred to your new NetID, you must login with your updated NetID to these apps after being notified to do so via TDX ticket comment.
Please monitor your email for the comment notification once you gain access to your mailbox with the new NetID. TDX ticket comments will be sent from MSU TDX Notifications <MSUIT.TDXNotifications@itservices.msu.edu>.
  • If the NetID is associated with any previously completed training (RVSM, DEI, etc), you will need to email the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) at orrs.train@msu.edu to let them know to move any records from your old NetID to your new NetID.
