MSU is providing all versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux software for MSU-owned machines. Red Hat is centrally funded to improve security across servers, applications, and hardware architectures at MSU.
Red Hat may be installed on both personal and professional machines providing they are used for teaching and research only. JBoss, OpenStack, High Availability, and Resilient Storage are not part of MSU’s license with Red Hat. They can be purchased separately through the MSU Technology Store.
MSU IT will be the main Red Hat administrator, but there may be up to 30 local administrators also assigned as Red Hat is adopted by campus. That process is being finalized. Ongoing Red Hat patches and updates are administered locally by MSU.
Use the option on this page to request a red hat license.
