Overview
This document provides an overview of intake, prioritization, and governance of MSU IT Projects within TeamDynamix (TDX), our project system of record. This overview will focus on the flow of activity and clarify how the process works.
Project Request
- All Projects begin by completing the Request Form in TDX
- Project Requests are auto approved and the Functional Lead is notified they can begin work on the project in TDX
Project Types
- EPMO Project – Enterprise level projects approved by Institutional Governance – Highest Priority
- IT Department Projects
- MSU IT Top Projects – MSU IT Projects prioritized by MSU IT Executive Leadership Team (ELT) – Highest Priority
- Department Priority Projects – IT Projects prioritized within IT Unit (Infra, Ed. Tech, Ent. Svcs, ACIO, Campus Experience, InfoSec) – High Priority
- Other Department Projects – IT Project within IT Unit – Best Effort
Prioritizing Projects and Governance
- Executive Sponsor determines project priority.
- EPMO Projects – Submit Enterprise Project Request
- MSU IT Top Projects – Complete MSU IT Priority Project Review Form and submit to Jeremy Reed and Scott Termeer. If form completed sufficiently, project will be added to priority list. MSU IT Top Projects are reviewed and revised by ELT quarterly.
- IT Department Priority Projects – IT Executive Directors will identify and prioritize amongst their teams.
- Enterprise Project Governance handled by Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).
- MSU IT Governance includes quarterly review of MSU IT Top Projects in ELT meetings and weekly ELT review of any MSU IT Top Projects or Department Priority projects with Yellow or Red Health attribute.
