Cortex XDR - Available to Install Using Software Center Starting 10/13/26

A communication previously stated that a TDX ticket would be required but that is not longer accurate. Starting 10/13/26, Cortex XDR will be available to install using the Software Center on any server running the CampusAD MCM client.

Previous Communication

To strengthen MSU’s cybersecurity protection and reduce potential threats, we are asking all IT teams to review the servers they administer this week and ensure Cortex XDR is installed on each one.

As a proven cybersecurity tool, Cortex XDR is becoming a standard security requirement for all MSU servers to address coverage gaps and provide consistent protection, regardless of who manages them.

Cortex XDR helps MSU IT cybersecurity teams detect and respond to emerging threats. Installing it across the server environment will improve visibility, reduce security blind spots, and strengthen protection across the university.

Cortex XDR has already been deployed across 1,750 servers. Expanding deployment to the remaining servers will extend these benefits and provide more consistent protection across MSU’s infrastructure.

What IT teams need to do:

  1. Review the servers under your team's administration and identify any that do not have Cortex XDR installed.
  2. Install Cortex XDR on all servers that are not yet covered as soon as practicable.
  3. Request to join the Cortex XDR Users Group in Microsoft Teams for more information and help with technical challenges or concerns.
  4. If ESET was installed previously, it can be removed once Cortex XDR is in place.

Consistent protection across MSU’s server infrastructure, regardless of who administers each system, will reduce institutional risk and strengthen our collective ability to detect and respond to cybersecurity threats.

We appreciate your partnership and support in helping protect MSU's technology environment.
