Question
What are the addresses for MSU's Central DNS servers?
Answer
On-Campus DNS
MSU's Central DNS servers are intended to be used only on the campus network and are not available for off-campus use. When needed for manual configuration of campus network devices, the DNS server addresses are:
Primary DNS: 35.8.0.2 and 35.8.0.3
Off-Campus DNS
For off-campus network connection, individuals should use the DNS service provided by their internet service provider, which is usually set automatically upon making the network connection. In rare cases, individuals may also find that Google Public DNS better meets their domain name server needs.
If you find that your device works for network access on campus but not off campus, check your network settings to be sure it is not set to use the MSU DNS service.
