iClicker Options

iClicker Student is free for MSU faculty and students to use. You can download iClicker Student from this page. You should not be prompted for payment.

If you have used iClicker in the past, the interface may say that your subscription has expired. However, you do not need to purchase a student subscription as long as you are taking courses at MSU. The product should still work.

If the product does not work for your student account, contact iClicker support and they will help you troubleshoot the issues. If you accidentally paid for an iClicker Student subscription, please contact iClicker support for help with a refund.

For Instructors:

Tips for using iClicker devices in class:

  • Instructors using iClicker Cloud should use a hard-wired internet connection rather than connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
  • Instructors using a desktop computer should already be hard-wired to the internet. Instructors using a laptop should connect to the internet by plugging in an ethernet cable if it is available.
  • Begin polls 5 minutes after class starts.
    • Avoid starting a poll right at the beginning of class when many devices are joining the network.
  • Be sure to start polls slow.
    • Allow students 120 seconds to respond to the first poll and 60-90 seconds after that. As everyone becomes accustomed to submitting responses, you can pick up the pace.

For Students:

Tips for using iClicker devices in class:

  • Toggle your device’s Wi-Fi off and on when you arrive in the classroom.
    • Resetting Wi-Fi prevents you from connecting to a distant Wi-Fi access point as you travel across campus.
  • Forget the MSU Guest 3.0 & Eduroam networks on your device.
