Can I add someone to the route after the route has started? Do I have to be the form initiator?
If you are an approver or reviewer on the route, you may add additional approvers or reviewers before you perform your own approval or review action. The Add Approvers/Reviewers link on the Routing Slip Content screen allows you to search for other FTU actors on the Actor Search page, and select those to be added to the route. A separate routing action is created and added to the current step on the route for each selected MSU NetID. The route will not move forward until all added actors take action.

If I add an additional approver, will that person receive an email notification of a pending action?
If added via the form application, it depends on how the application is set up. If added via the FTU Dashboard, FTU always attempts to send an email notification to all actors for pending actions. However, some people may have their email notification turned off (Preferences). It is a good practice to follow up with a phone call or an email of your own, letting the person know that you have included them in the route if they do not normally approve forms.

Are there special considerations when adding an additional approver or reviewer?
When adding additional actors, you should consider whether the person really needs to approve the form or just view it (i.e. has been made aware of the form's content). An additional approver can disapprove a form which causes the form to stop being routed. In addition, the people you add can hold up the approval process if they do not take action (since an Additional Actor adds a new routing action with just a single person, so there is no backup person to approve if the person you specify does not take action).

Keep in mind that you can add any valid MSUNetID, and the people you add can potentially view sensitive data in the FTU comments or in the form content itself. An added actor can also add additional actors.
