What are the Dashboard action lists?

Action lists are FTU-provided lists of routing actions and routing slips for the logged in Dashboard user:

  • Pending Actions – actions currently waiting for your approval or review
  • Performed Actions – actions you have actually performed
  • Rear View – actions you have or could have performed
  • Routing Slips Initiated – routing slips you initiated by submitting a form
  • Upcoming Actions – future actions, not yet pending

Is it normal to have empty action lists?

Yes. If you are not a form initiator, the Routing Slips Initiated list will be empty. If you are not an approver or reviewer, your Pending Actions list will be empty. If you are a backup approver for the primary approver, your Performed Actions list may be empty, but all routing actions you had the ability to approve (whether or not you actually acted upon them) appear in your Rear View list.

As a form initiator, are there any "good practices" I should follow to improve my FTU experience?

It is helpful to review the status of your slips in the "Initiated Slips" list in the FTU Dashboard on a timely basis. Slips can become stalled for a variety of reasons:

  • the approver is on vacation or has left MSU;
  • an added additional approver is not aware that they have a pending action, etc.

You can use the contact information in the Dashboard to expedite your slips. If you are always an initiator and never an approver, changing your initial Page Display preference to "Routing Slips Initiated" in the FTU Dashboard will make your job faster.

As an approver, are there any "good practices" I should follow to improve my FTU experience?

If you know that you are a designated approver for a form, check the Dashboard often for pending actions. Monitor your email account for notifications of pending actions and non-approved completed slips that may be of interest to you.

How can I tell when a form was initiated?

"Date Initiated" appears on the Pending Actions, Upcoming Actions and Routing Slips Initiated action lists. Initiated date is usually also available in the form application.

How can I tell the type of form for each routing slip in an action list?

When viewing a list of slips, like Pending Actions or Routing Slips Initiated, the slip's "Title" contains the form name or the application which created the slip, and may identify specific form information.

Can I isolate just one type of form to view and work on (and filter out other forms)?

Although slips cannot be filtered by type of form, you can accomplish this indirectly by sorting the action list (such as the Pending Actions list) by a particular form data item such as "Title" (which contains the form name) in order to group all the slips by type of form. For example, if I approve forms for a particular account number, I can group like account number forms by sorting on the Reference column.

Can I filter action lists by slip Status (for example, only display Open or Disapproved slips)?

Not at this time.

Can I sort the action lists? Can I toggle between ascending and descending order?

Yes, you can sort action lists ascending by column — click a column title to change the sort sequence of data on a page. FTU does not support ascending/descending reverse sort at this time.

What is the purpose of the Refresh button?

Clicking the Refresh button will rebuild the list for the action list you are currently viewing (to display recent activity such as actions taken and new slips created).
