MSU VDI provides access from anywhere, at any time, with any device to university resources and curriculum. All devices (Windows/Mac/Linus/iOS/Android) are supported enabling BYOD for our users.
VDI eliminates the need to travel to campus labs for access to university resources. Lab refresh costs can be greatly diminished by leveraging thin clients and similar technologies. This reduces or eliminates power, cooling, and noise concerns in physical lab environments. In the long run onsite computer labs may be eliminated and their physical square footage reclaimed for other purposes.
- VDI provides enhanced agility allowing for on-demand provisioning of applications, updates, and security fixes.
- Leveraging standardized images on consistent and scalable virtual hardware streamlines support operations for applications and end users.
- VDI can easily be scaled, virtual labs are not time nor space constrained and can be created on demand.
Infrastructure has acquired dedicated staff to support the VDI service in day to day operations and growth. We have implemented an architecture that can scale on demand and be responsive to the needs of the MSU community.
MSU VDI has been deployed on a fully redundant enterprise architecture leveraging UCS compute and all flash block storage. This assures an optimized and consistent user experience with maximum up-time.
