iThenticate

What Is the Service?

The iThenticate application helps evaluate research and grant writing by faculty, staff, and graduate students. iThenticate is also used by major granting agencies such as the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Energy.

iThenticate was created using similar technology from iParadigms, and procured by under the same MSU licensing agreement as Turnitin.

Please Note :  iThenticate access is not granted to everyone. Graduate Students and Faculty/Staff/Student Employees may get access if they satisfy the conditions below:

  • Faculty / Staff / Student Employees: must have current appointments and show active in the MSU IT Identity and Access Management System)
  • Graduate Students: must be enrolled in current semesters (or enrolled for the Fall during Summer periods)
  • All other users: access will not be provided

iThenticate is similar to, but not the same as Turnitin. iThenticate is used to self-check your work. Turnitin is used to compare submitted coursework against known sources. A more complete comparison is available on help.d2l.msu.edu.
