What Is the Service?

Asset Management is the process of tracking IT assets across the whole life cycle, from the point of procurement through disposal. MSU IT has identified that this process will include desktops, laptops, and tablets for participating departments. Asset Management is available for use to track other IT assets by request.

  • ITAM Data Validation
    ITAM Data Validation is a step in the process for Repair, Re-Imaging or Wiping of Assets
  • ITAM Lifecycle Management
    ITAM Lifecycle Management is the process of tracking IT assets across the whole life cycle, from the point of procurement through disposal. Asset Lifecycle Management is available for use to track IT assets by request.
  • ITAM Onboarding
    MSU IT provides ITAM options to MSU departments to track inventory and focus on the financial aspect of a physical IT component throughout its entire lifecycle.

How Do I Use It?

Assets are managed within the IT Asset Management (ITAM) tool from the point of procurement to the point of disposal. Some important points in the lifecycle that the tool provides tracking for are as follows:

  • Cost and Purchase Order information
  • Assigned User and Location information
  • Support Group of the Asset
  • Warranty information
  • Asset Status information (e.g. In Service, Retired, Available, Disposed, etc.)
