What Is the Service?

Application development, integration, and support of enterprise and unit IT applications for the Sponsored Programs Administration office.

Systems supported:

  • Click is a research compliance software application being used by faculty and support staff at MSU for human subject, animal, and environmental health safety compliance. At MSU, it is used to manage IRB, IACUC, and EHS compliance activities. This Huron software product is currently in use at several peer institutions, including University of Michigan, Northwestern University, Rutgers University, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Wisconsin.
  • Kuali Hub is a cloud application from Kuali Co., and this is a no-code forms and workflow application owned by OR&I and SPA units. The forms/projects developed by this tool will be used by campus users for their day-to-day research and compliance needs.

  • Kuali Hub is available to MSU Faculty, Staff, and Students
  • Kuali Research (KR) is available to MSU Faculty and Staff

How Do I Use It?

  • Click integrates with Kuali Research, the Learning Management System (LMS) for compliance training, MSU's Identity Management (IDM), and Organization of Interest (OOI) systems. Click supports most commonly used browsers, with the exception of Edge, which may have limited support.
  • Kuali Hub is an automated form and workflow system from Kuali Co. This cloud application is used by SPA/OR&I to build their research and compliance apps which will be used by campus users.

  • Proposal Development documents are e-Docs that are part of the Kuali Research (KR) Proposal Development module and are linked to Budget documents in the system. The Proposal Development document serves as MSU's approval for the sponsored research proposal/project to proceed with submission of an application and/or award negotiation. For Grants.gov proposals, the Proposal Development document will accommodate all the information required by the sponsor and the institution for a System-to-System submission.

A Proposal Development document may be initiated by anyone with access in Kuali Research (KR). Typically, they are initiated by Department or College Research Administrators and routed to Principal Investigators for review and approval; check with your College/Department to determine internal processes. To initiate a Proposal Development document, please go to the KR portal.

Institutional Proposal and Award documents can also be viewed by users in the system as well based on their roles/permissions in the system. Please contact the KR Help Desk for additional information - krhelpde@msu.edu
