Objective
iOS (iPhone/iPad) devices require complex configuration to connect to the Michigan State Wi-Fi networks. The university partners with SecureW2 to issue certificates to aid with device setup. Following these steps will walk you through the process of downloading and installing the necessary software to connect your iOS device to the eduroam wireless network.

Before You Begin
Michigan State University has adopted eduroam, which is used by many educational institutions as a secure way to offer WiFi to campus visitors. eduroam is available at many universities across the state and country, as well as some other locations.
eduroam configurations are institution-specific. If you are not using an MSU account to access eduroam, you will need to consult your home institution's IT department for the correct process to follow.
Please also note:
- Safari is the only officially supported browser for completing this process. Other browsers may prevent you from proceeding, instead showing the error: "We have detected that you are using an incompatible browser. Please open this URL using your Safari browser.

- Ensure your device has an active network connection.
- Have your valid MSU Okta login credentials as well as any two-factor security methods available.
- Close any applications that may interfere with the installation.
Steps
- Connect to a Wi-Fi network with Internet access.
If on campus, MSUnet Guest is recommended
- If you connect to MSUnet Guest, when the welcome page loads, select Accept & Connect to get Internet access.
- Open Safari on your device and go to wifi.msu.edu. You will be redirected to the SecureW2 JoinNow setup page.
- If the redirect does not happen, you may need to select Connect to eduroam
- Confirm your device type.
- Ensure the page detects your OS as iPhone/iPad.
- If it doesn't, use the dropdown to select iPhone/iPad.
- Select Sign In

- A browser will open at the login screen to MSU WebSSO. Log in using your NetID and password.
- Complete Okta 2-Factor Authentication if prompted
- You will be returned to the SecureW2 Join Now setup page. Select JoinNow.
- You will be prompted to download a configuration profile. Select Allow.
- You may first be prompted to select your device
- The profile will be downloaded, and you will be prompted to go to the Settings app to install it. Select Close.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone/iPad and select Profile Downloaded.
- On an iPad this will be near the top of the left pane
- On an iPhone this will be near the top of the main list
- The Install Profile window will appear. Select Install in the upper-right corner.
- Enter your PIN/Passcode, or complete Touch/Face ID to grant permission to install the profile.
- You will be presented with a warning about the Certificates and Wi-Fi profile being installed on your device. Select Install in the upper-right corner.
- Another Install Profile prompt will appear. Select Install.
- The profile installer will proceed with Enrolling Certificate, Installing Profile, Profile Installed. Select Done (it may appear instead as a checkmark) in the upper-right corner.
- You're done! You will now see the Michigan State eduroam MobileConfig profile installed on your device. If you are in range of the eduroam network, your device will automatically connect.
You will also receive an email from notifications@securew2.com with Subject: [MSUIT] eduroam certificate issued. You do not need to do anything with this email.
