Overview
Internet browsers and Adobe Reader versions are continually released at varying frequencies. These types of software, along with the computer operating system (OS) are necessary in order to access and interact with the EBS applications.
EBS refers to operating systems, browsers and Adobe Reader as User Interface (UI) software; UI software therefore is any software that is located on a user's computer, which is needed to effectively access and interact with EBS.
This document provides a high level summary of the approach used by EBS to assess, test and recommend new versions of UI software to EBS users.

EBS Assessments
Every quarter EBS reviews the software marketplace for new UI software versions, to see if there are any candidates that could be used by MSU. UI software candidates are selected based on the following criteria (all are required):
- Must be the final release version (alpha/beta versions, candidates for release, or other non-final versions are not considered).
- Must be a recent, major UI software release version; these generally feature significant enhancements, new features and/or look and function in a different manner.
- Official confirmation is received from the EBS application vendors (SAP, IBM, Kuali) that they support the specific software/version. Support indicates the EBS application vendor has performed some level of testing with this software version, and will provide support and solutions to MSU should issues arise with its use.
- MSU's internal EBS application software (types/versions/configurations) must be at or above the minimum level to support the new UI software version as specified by the application vendors.
Candidates that meet the above criteria are then compatibility tested against the EBS applications.

EBS Compatibility Testing
New versions of UI software identified during quarterly EBS assessments are tested to confirm their compatibility.
- UI software is individually tested by each EBS business team (HR/Payroll, Finance, Business Intelligence, Planning and Budget, OOI, Data Warehouse), if assessment criteria is met. Testing covers common and high visibility/priority business tasks and functionality, issues that were reported in the past, and other necessary tests deemed necessary or relevant.
- Testing is performed on Windows and Mac computers that are based on common MSU configurations and settings.
- Issues found during testing are assigned to MSU technical teams for resolution, and are escalated to EBS application vendors as necessary.
- New versions of UI software that successfully pass EBS compatibility testing are added to the EBS Compatibility Matrix.
