Respondus Lockdown Browser Only Opens a White Screen on MacOS (D2L

Problem

When trying to open a quiz/test in D2L using the Respondus Lockdown Browser on a Mac device, it displays a white page and not the quiz/test.

Resolution

Here are some things to try to resolve the white screen issue in Respondus Lockdown Browser on a Mac:

  • Ensure that you have downloaded and installed the Lockdown browser from Michigan State's unique download link (this is the link in the quiz): MSU Respondus Download Link
  • Use a different standard browser like Chrome or Firefox to start the exam and launch the secure browser.
  • Power down and restart the computer to clear out subtle corruptions that can build from constant use of Sleep Mode.
  • Disable or remove any third-party security apps and verify the MacOS is up-to-date with all the security updates.
  • Create a brand new user account:
    1. Go to System Preferences->Users & Groups
    2. Create a new user account with "Allow user to administer this computer"
    3. Log out of the current account
    4. Restart the Mac
    5. Log in with the new account and try again.
