Steps

  1. Go to Viewing >> Manage Hanging Protocols (opens the dialog box that lets you make/manage hanging protocols).
  2. Select either:
    • Default Hanging Protocols (if you want to make hanging protocols that users may select manually)
    • Automated Hanging Protocols (if you want the protocol to be chosen automatically by the rule-based selection criteria matching procedure). (Automated Hanging Protocols are selected if and only if the study to be viewed satisfies all selection criteria of the protocol and the protocol has the highest priority among all protocols that satisfy all the selection criteria for the study.)
  3. Click New to make a new protocol, name the protocol and divide up the viewports into stacks and sheets as desired.
  4. Set the default scope for the type of study the protocol display.
    • For example: in MR the expected behavior is that actions like setting window width and level will be applied to a whole series, not just one image. So, for an MR protocol, the default scope should be 'series'. However, for CR, you expect such actions to only apply to one image at a time.
  5. Select viewport for the CR protocol.
  6. Click the Wizard button.
  7. Set Selection Criteria.
    • Any Modality
    • Set the minimum number protocols of studies, series, series per study, images per series, if applicable.
  8. Click the Add button and make a rule that says:
    • Modality contains MR CT and set the number of occurrences in a dataset appropriately (normally just 1). If your protocol applies to a different set of modalities, your rule would be altered accordingly.
