MSUEDW - ODBC Error: "ORA-01013 User Requested Cancel of Current Operation."( ODBC --Call Failed.)

Problem

When running a query on a MSUEDW View in Access/Excel using a Data Source ODBC, you receive an ODBC error: "ORA-01013 User Requested Cancel of Current Operation."( ODBC --Call Failed.) when the user did not cancel the query.

To fix this problem, the ODBC Driver settings need to be adjusted.

Environment

Resolution

  1. Click Start > Settings >Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
  2. Click the System DSN tab in the ODBC Data Source Administrator Window.
  3. Select the name of the Banner/Oracle data source from the list.
  4. Click the Configure button.
  5. On the Application tab of the Oracle ODBC Driver Configuration window, un-check all checkboxes with the exception of Read-Only Connection.

  6. On the Oracle tab of the Oracle ODBC Driver Configuration window, un-check the checkbox for Enable Failover.

  7. Click OK to Save changes.
  8. Reboot the PC.
  9. You're done!

Cause

Bad ODBC driver settings can cause connection issues to the data source.

The MSUEDW collects data from the university’s business systems (HR, Payroll, Finance, Organizational, IPF), student systems (Campus Solutions, D2L), research systems (KCRA, Contract Grants) and various other supporting applications and data sources.
