Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) - How to Disable Toolbar Extensions in Safari

Tags how-to public

Objective

Following these steps will disable and/or uninstall toolbar extensions in Safari.

Environment

Safari

Before You Begin

Issues with EBS systems, particularly HR/Payroll, can occur when using non-supported toolbars, such as Ask, Bing, Google, MSN, Yahoo, and others. These non-supported toolbars are frequently included with other software downloads, including Adobe Reader. This document explains how to disable these toolbars in Safari.

Reported issues include (but may not be limited to):

  • Blank or shaking screens
  • EBS page links not functioning
  • SAP screens freezing or timing out
  • Lists blank or otherwise not functioning

EBS recommends checking for (and disabling) all toolbar add-ons.

Steps

  1. In Safari, select the Safari menu and then the Preferences option.
  2. Click the Extensions icon at the top of the screen. Then do one of the following:
    • Uncheck the Enable Toolbar option to turn off the toolbar, but leave it loaded on your device.
    • Click the Uninstall button to disable and completely remove the toolbar from the device.
  3. Repeat step 2 for each remaining toolbar.
  4. Close and reopen Safari to complete the toolbar disable or uninstall process.
