Spartan 365 - How To Activate Microsoft Office 365 on a Shared Windows 10 Machine

Objective

Following these steps will activate Office 365 for your user account on a shared Windows 10 machine, without using up any of your licenses for personal machines.

Environment

Windows 10
Office 365 newly installed via MEMCM

Before You Begin

Steps

  1. Launch any application from Office 365 (Excel, Word, etc).
  2. Select Sign in.
  3. Log in using your MSU email address and password.
  4. Verify the activation by selecting File > Account > About... It should look like:
  5. You're done! Office 365 has been activated for your user account on this shared machine without using any personal licenses.

Additional Info

If Office 365 was installed and activated by MEMCM prior to May 31st, 2020 the existing device-based activation will remain valid and users will not be prompted for activation.
