Network - How To Clear Your DNS Cache on Windows

Objective

Following these steps will clear the DNS cache on your Windows machine. This is a common troubleshooting step for various website issues.

Steps

  1. Open a command prompt as administrator:
    1. Select Start
    2. Type cmd
    3. Right-click Command Prompt
    4. Select Run as Administrator
  2. In the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns (including the space before the "/" as shown)
  3. OPTIONAL - Reboot your machine
  4. You're done! The DNS cache should now be cleared out.
