How to Allow Popups for D2L from Popular Browsers

Objective

Following these steps will enable D2L to send popup windows to your browser, which may be necessary for certain course content.

Steps

Edge

1. Select Settings and more (three dots) located on the top-right corner.
2. Select Settings.
3. Choose Cookies and site permissions.
4. Scroll down to Pop-ups and redirects.
5. Set the Block (recommended) slider option to off
6. Alternatively, you may Add *.msu.edu in the Allow section

Chrome

1. Choose the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon in the upper right.
2. Choose Settings.
3. In the upper left Settings menu, select Security and Privacy.
4. Select Site Settings.
5. Select Popups and redirects.
6. In the Allow section, select Add.
7. Type in https://d2l.msu.edu then select Add.
8. Do the same for “https://student.msu.edu”.
9. Alternatively, you can select the option for “Sites can send pop-ups and use redirects”.

Firefox

1. Select Menu at the upper right.
2. Choose Options.
3. Select Privacy & Security.
4. Scroll down to the Permissions section.
5. Check the Block pop-up windows box.
6. Choose the Exceptions button.
7. Enter https://d2l.msu.edu.
8. Then select Allow.
9. Do the same for “https://student.msu.edu”
10. Then Save Changes.
11. Alternatively, you uncheck the Block pop-up windows box.

Safari

1. While logged into D2L, in Safari choose Preferences.
2. Go to the Websites tab.
3. Scroll down on the left to Pop-Up Windows.
4. Choose Allow.
