Objective
Following these steps will allow you to create, modify, or cancel a subscription for MSU Service Status. Notifications from MSU Service Status can help you keep track of ongoing changes or outages with various MSU IT systems.
Before You Begin
When subscribing to MSU Service Status notifications, you can elect to subscribe to all service categories or just selected ones. If you are looking to only subscribe to selected categories, please refer to the MSU Service Status Service Categorization List to identify which category/sub-category contains the services or applications you are interested in being notified about.
Steps
New Subscription
Depending on the type of subscription are you are looking to create, your initial steps may vary.
Email Subscription
- Navigate to the MSU Service Status subscription page using one of the following methods:
- Select Email for the notification method.
- Enter your email address and indicate that you accept the terms and services, then click the Next button to proceed with your subscription.
- On the Customizations screen, you have two subscription options:
- All services: Notifications will sent be about all services.
- Selected services: Notifications will only be sent for the services or categories selected.
- With option 2, you will need to indicate which services or categories that you wish to subscribe to.
- Each category (group) is listed with its nested sub-categories (services) below it. The navigation options at the bottom of the page will allow you to move from page to page to find the necessary items.
- Checking the Aggregate by groups option will allow you to select one or more categories (groups) to subscribe to.
- The Filter services.. box can be used to search for specific categories (groups) or sub-categories (services).
- The Only send me the minimum number of notifications per incident (typically first and final) option will reduce the number of notifications you receive. If this option is left unchecked, you will receive an email for every update recorded on an incident.
- Click the Save button to complete your subscription.
Microsoft Teams Subscription
You can add a subscription to a MS Teams channel you own so that the entire channel gets service notifications. Instructions are copied from the StatusHub Support Site. Visit the linked page for screenshots of the steps and additional information.
- Open your Microsoft Teams.
- Choose a channel in the team where you want to receive notifications, click on options (three dots), then select Workflows.
- Within the Templates list, locate the options for Send webhook alerts to a channel and select it.
- You can search for this or click the All Templates link to view all available templates.
- Confirm the correct Team and Channel are selected, then click the Save button.
- When the workflow has been created, a page will load with the workflow's details. If desired, you can modify the workflow name using the pencil icon.
- Click the Copy webhook link option to copy the webhook URL to your clipboard.
- Navigate to the MSU Service Status subscription page using one of the following methods:
- Select Teams for the notification method.
- Paste in copied URL in the first field. You may also enter a Label for this subscription to make it easier to identify.
- Indicate that you accept the terms and services, then click the Next button to proceed with your subscription.
- On the Customizations screen, you have two subscription options:
- All services: Notifications will sent be about all services.
- Selected services: Notifications will only be sent for the services or categories selected.
- With option 2, you will need to indicate which services or categories that you wish to subscribe to.
- Each category (group) is listed with its nested sub-categories (services) below it. The navigation options at the bottom of the page will allow you to move from page to page to find the necessary items.
- Checking the Aggregate by groups option will allow you to select one or more categories (groups) to subscribe to.
- The Filter services.. box can be used to search for specific categories (groups) or sub-categories (services).
- The Only send me the minimum number of notifications per incident (typically first and final) option will reduce the number of notifications you receive. If this option is left unchecked, you will receive an email for every update recorded on an incident.
- Click the Save button to complete your subscription. You should also receive a confirmation message in your Teams channel.
Modify Subscriptions
- Navigate to the MSU Service Status subscription page using one of the following methods:
- Select the Forgot your link? option below the subscription type choices.
- On the Resend subscription link screen, select your subscription type and enter your email address or webhook URL.
- From the Subscription links reminder email you receive, click the Edit your subscription link.
- Select either Email or MS Teams.
- On the Customizations screen, you have two subscription options:
- All services: Notifications will sent be about all services.
- Selected services: Notifications will only be sent for the services or categories selected.
- The Only send me the minimum number of notifications per incident (typically first and final) option will reduce the number of notifications you receive. If this option is left unchecked, you will receive an email for every update recorded on an incident.
- Click the Save button to apply your updates.
Cancel Subscription
- Navigate to the MSU Service Status subscription page using one of the following methods:
- Select the Forgot your link? option below the subscription type choices.
- From the Subscription links reminder email you receive, click the Edit your subscription link.
- Select Unsubscribe button.
- On the Unsubscribe methods page, you can select which notification method you would like to unsubscribe from or click the Remove all subscriptions button to remove all.
Note: Clicking on the notification method or the
Remove all subscriptions button will immediately remove your subscription(s). If you unsubscribe in error, you can create a
new subscription using the steps above.
