Local Endpoint Protection - How to Download and Install ESET Anti-Virus on a Personal Windows Device

Objective

Following these steps will install a copy of the ESET Anti-Virus Protection application on your personal Windows system.

Before You Begin

These instructions are not intended for MSU-owned devices. For those instructions, please see KB 1079 (KB link). You will need to obtain a license for the software before you can download and install it. See this article (link) for instructions.

If you require support for the ESET product, please refer to the official documentation or support channels.

Steps

  1. Navigate to https://www.eset.com/us/home/free-trial/
  2. Select Free Download
  3. After the file downloads, locate it in your Downloads folder and open it to begin the install
  4. Select your desired language from the drop-down menu
  5. Select Continue
  6. Read the End User Agreement and select I Accept
  7. Select Skip Login
  8. Select Use a Purchased License Key
  9. Enter the license key you received in your email from before
  10. Select Continue
  11. Enter the required personal contact information
  12. Select Activate
  13. Select Continue
  14. Set the level of protection you wish to enable as well as if you wish to participate in future product enhancements
  15. Select Continue
  16. Your ESET Home Anti-Virus client has now been installed and will begin the initial configuration phase. Expect the initial PC scan to take up to several hours depending on the size and resources of the home computer. You should be able to view the ESET application in your systray.
  17. You're done!
