Telecom - General Information About Avaya Workplace (Softphone Software)

MSU IT Services offers the Avaya Workplace “softphone” application that allows you to place and receive phone calls from your internet connected device. Avaya Workplace “softphone” utilize Voice-over-IP (VoIP) technologies that allow you to use your campus telephone number and its features from your own device anywhere you can access the internet. This application is available for use with:

  • Windows computers or laptops;
  • MAC computers or laptops; and
  • iOS or Android cellular devices.

The self-service portal (link) has the latest software downloads and documentation, but we strongly recommend using the Software Center (on Windows) or Jamf (on Mac) for any installation. The software otherwise requires local admin privileges to install. Consult your local IT or contact the IT Service Desk at (517)432-6200 for more information.
