Tags how-to public

Objective

Following these steps will reset the password used for ePrescribe using the AthenaNet portal.

Environment

AthenaNet portal
EPCS

Before You Begin

Make sure you have your two-factor authentication (2FA) credential available (likely Symantec VIP Access on a phone), as you will need to enter a security code for this process.

Understand that two passwords are at issue:

  • First is the MSU NetID password, used when logging in to Athena.
  • Second is the e-prescribe password, used when ordering prescriptions, which is what we are changing here.

Steps

  1. Login to athena/MSUHealth using your MSU NetID and password
    • If you are a provider who practiced at a MSU location in MSUHealth prior to 7/1/2020 please toggle to your main username by selecting your non-HC/non-SHS department from the department drop-down in bottom right corner.
    • See KB 1085 (link)  if you need help resetting this password.
  2. Select the Settings (gear) icon and select User Profile
  3. Select the Password tab
  4. Enter the security code from your 2FA credential
  5. Enter the new password twice
    • This cannot be the same as the previous athenanet password.
    • Password requirements:
      • No words
      • At least 8 characters long
      • At least one uppercase letter
      • At least one lowercase letter
      • At least one number or special character
  6. A new page may open, taking you to the MSU sign in page
    • Sign in, your NetID password has not changed.
    • When complete a message stating your password has changed successfully will display.
  7. You're done!
