Student Information System - Error: "We Could Not Log You In Using Your Institution Authorization"

Problem

When trying to access financial aid information in Student Information System you get an error: "We could not log you in using your institution authorization. If you think this is an error, please contact your financial aid office"

Environment

Student information stored in Student Information System (student.msu.edu)

Resolution

The student must:

  1. Open the PDF instructions called Students - Share My Info Electronically, found at SIS Guest Access (link)
  2. Scroll down to Financial Aid Guest Access and follow those instructions

Cause

The student did not complete the second step and grant you access to Financial Aid
