SIS Financial Aid Portal (SFP) - I Signed the FERPA Form But I Still Can't Add a Guest

Problem

Even after signing and submitting the FERPA Form from the Financial Aid Portal, you still cannot add a guest.

Resolution

Re-sign the FERPA agreement, but choose "The school has my permission to release Directory Information as defined above." To do this:

1. Login at student.msu.edu
2. Click the Financial Aid tile
3. Click Financial Aid Portal on the left side of the screen
4. Click the Open Financial Aid Portal button that appears
5. On the Financial Aid home screen, click your Name in the top-right corner and select Profile
6. On the Profile page, scroll down to Manage Proxy Access
7. Click Sign FERPA Form & Provide Consent
8. Read/scroll through the agreement. Towards the end, under "Notice for Release of Directory Information", select the radio button next to "The school has my permission to release Directory Information as defined above.

9. Fill out the necessary fields and click I ACCEPT to save the change
10. You're done! You should now be able to add a guest to your financial aid information.

Cause

If you do not consent to the release of Directory Information as described in the form: ". . . all communications with all third parties and agencies will need to be done through your written request to the University or in person."

This includes information on the portal, so without that consent, nothing can be shared with a guest.
