Before You Begin
Use this link to verify that your designation (student, faculty, etc) grants you access to the desktop versions of the software: tech.msu.edu. Understand that access to the online versions does not necessarily grant access to the desktop versions.
These instructions are not intended for university-purchased devices, as those should have the software automatically installed. If not, contact your local IT for assistance, or reach out to the IT Service Desk at (517)432-6200.
Following these instructions will use one of your MSU-provided licenses for each machine where you install Office. You have a limited number allocated to you. You can view how many devices you are allowed and how many you have used from the
My Account screen (link).
You will need your multi-factor authentication (MFA) credential to log in to portal.msu.edu. Please have it ready for this process. If you have not yet set up MFA for your account, please see KB 957 for instructions to do so.
Steps

- Enter your MSU email address (netid@msu.edu) and select Next, or select your MSU account, if it already shows as an option
- An auth.msu.edu login screen should appear. Log in with your MSU email address and MSU NetID password
