Spartan Mail - How to Check if Your Spartan Mail Account can be Forwarded to an Outside Email Service

Objective

Following these steps will verify if your Spartan Mail account is able to be forwarded to an outside email service (like Gmail).

Before You Begin

Not all MSU email accounts can be forwarded to other email addresses - see KB 773 (link) for details.

Steps

  1. Log in at spartanmail.msu.edu
  2. Select the gear icon near the upper-right corner
  3. Type forward in the Search settings field

    • If the setting is not found, then forwarding is not allowed for your account.
    • See this page on support.microsoft.com (link) for instructions to enable forwarding if your account allows it.
