Spartan 365 - How to Save Your Spartan Drive Files to Your Local Computer

Objective

Following these steps will download a copy of the files from your Spartan Drive to a local machine.

Environment

Before You Begin

You may be prompted to verify your identity with your multi-factor authentication (MFA) credential. Have it ready just in case.

Check your local storage limits before attempting this process, as Spartan Drive may have a large amount of data to copy.

Steps

  1. Go to portal.office.com
  2. Log in with your MSU email and NetID password, then verify your identity with your MFA credential
  3. Select the waffle menu and then select the OneDrive icon

  4. Select My files from the menu on the left side of the page
  5. Select the files and folders you wish to copy, placing a checkmark next to each of them
  6. Select Download from the top of the screen
  7. You're done! The files will be downloaded to a compressed file folder and stored in your default downloads folder

Additional Info

If you had shared files from your Spartan Drive with other users, you may wish to alert them that the files will be going away when you lose access to your account.
