Objective
Following these steps will give another user the ability to manage your Spartan Mail (O365) mailbox.

Before You Begin
Spartan 365 allows you to share any or all of your email folders with other users within the organization. This can be done either in the Outlook client on you computer, or from the Outlook Web App in a web browser anywhere else. These steps are depicted as they are on the Web App, but are the same on the Outlook client.
These steps are specific to sharing access to a
personal O365 mailbox. Any users who wish to add or remove access to a shared/department account must submit a Default Form (previously a "Generic eARM") through the
TDClient portal (link).
Steps
The process consists of two steps:
- Setting up permissions - done by the person sharing the personal mailbox with someone else
- Adding the shared folder - done by the person receiving the access
Setting Up Permissions
- As the person who is sharing access to their mailbox, open a web browser and navigate to spartanmail.msu.edu
- Log in using your MSU email address and NetID password
- Right-click the folder you want to share (usually Inbox) and select Permissions
If you want to share your entire inbox and all sub-folders, right-click your name instead of Inbox.
- In the Permissions window, select the plus sign ( + ) in the upper-left corner of this window to bring up the Add permissions dialogue box.
- In the Add permissions dialog box, start typing the name of the person who is to receive access.
- Select their name and select Add.
- This will return you to the Permissions window. From here, you can customize the access you want to grant to the person you're sharing with.
- Once the permissions are set how you'd like them select OK.
- You're done! Your half of the delegation is now complete.
Adding the Shared Folder
- As the person receiving access to another person's mailbox (and assuming the above process is already complete), open a web browser and navigate to spartanmail.msu.edu.
- Log in using your MSU email address and NetID password
- Right-click your name (above Inbox) and select Add shared folder.
- In the Add shared folder dialog that opens, type the name of the person who shared access with you.
- Select the name, then select Add
- You're done! The shared mailbox will now show up in your list of available folders.
