General Information
The OU unit structure in CampusAD has a hierarchy setup that sets the MAU as a top level OU and the departmental OU’s being child OU’s to the MAU parent.
Management of your organizational unit at Michigan State University is handled thru a product called Active Roles. When moving into CampusAD, OU Administrators should take training as soon as possible to become familiar with this product.
All accounts assigned to manage a given Organizational Unit (OU) must now be SEC accounts.
You may request access with a given NetID but access will be provided to a corresponding SEC account (we will create one for you if one doesn’t already exist).

Request: Request a new Organizational Unit
Navigate to https://go.msu.edu/access-requests, select Generic and enter your name as prompted. In the description enter:
I would like to have an organizational unit (OU) created in CampusAD. The code for this unit should be: xyz (i.e. Ag and Natural Resources is ANR). See note below for additional text related to permissions from top level groups.
When this is created please add the following people to the administrator security group for this OU:
name: netid;
name: netid.
Additional Notes
- If this is a department, it should be created as a sub OU of the MAU. To speed the processing of your request please indicate the name of the top level MAU (i.e. College or other) OU that it should be placed under. This information will be verified before the OU is created.
- If it is a sub OU of another OU, also indicate whether permissions should inherit the administrators from the top level OU or be kept separate.

Request: Change People authorized to manage an existing Organizational Unit
Navigate to https://go.msu.edu/access-requests and select Generic and enter your name as prompted. In the description enter:
I would like to update the administrator security group with access to organizational unit: xxxxxxx.
Please ADD/REMOVE <name> <netid> to/from this group.
