Error: "Unrecognized Username or Password" When Logging in to liveon.msu.edu

Problem

When attempting to log on to the liveon.msu.edu website, you receive an error: "Unrecognized username or password".

Resolution

The login credentials are your MSU NetID and password. Your NetID is what comes before the @msu.edu in your MSU email address. For this login, do not put @msu.edu after your NetID. If you still cannot log in, you may need to reset your NetID password (KB link).

Cause

This error is caused either by an incorrect username (generally when a full MSU email address is entered, instead of just the NetID), or by an expired password.

NetID
MSU NetIDs are assigned to all current faculty, staff, students and retirees. A NetID is a unique alphanumeric identifier auto-generated from the user's name. Your NetID is your personal identifier at MSU and serves as your login to many university computing and networking services. Your NetID also determines your MSU email address which is netid@msu.edu (e.g. the NetID msuspartan would have the email address msuspartan@msu.edu).
