Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) - ESS - Error: "Personnel number xx does not exist (or 'PERNR_DOES_NOT_EXIST')"

Problem

You're trying to submit attendance or absences through Employee Self Service and receive errors, " Personnel number xx does not exist or you do not have authorization" and/or "Erroneous records exist. Navigation is not possible"

Resolution

  1. Contact your department security administrator for access.
  2. Contact IT Service Desk at (517) 432-6200 if you need help reaching department security administrator.
    • List of RO Web College Security Administrators (link)
    • If the Security Administrator is not available, or not listed, contact either the MSU IT Service Desk (517-432-6200) or the HR Solutions Center (517-353-4434, SolutionsCenter@hr.msu.edu), to request a ticket to the HR IT Time and Payroll team.

Cause

You currently only have authorization to view/read time and attendance information but no authorization to edit.

EBS Portal
The Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) Portal is the entry point to administrative systems used university-wide. Based on security roles, the EBS Portal provides MSU employees and retirees access to their unique combination of authorized administrative systems. Embedded as part of MSU’s HR/Payroll System, it provides direct access to various human resources functions.
