Before You Begin

As a student, you can allow guests to access your student information two different ways. You can authorize the guest to access information and conduct business:

  1. online using student.msu.edu. For this, follow the instructions in Steps below. OR
  2. by speaking with someone over the phone.
    • For the phone option, go to SIS Guest Access and follow the instructions in the linked PDF named Students - Share My Info by Phone.

    • Neither you nor the guest needs to do anything else from this article to activate this access, but the guest will need to know the security questions you set up during the process in order to verify they are authorized on your behalf.

Steps

  1. Go to SIS Guest Access
  2. Open the linked PDF called Students - Share My Info Electronically

  3. In the opened PDF, follow the instructions in the Share My Info Electronically section. (Page 1 in the PDF)
  4. If you also need to provide access to your financial aid information, scroll down to Financial Aid Guest Access and follow those instructions as well, else skip this step. (Page 4 in the PDF)
  5. You're done! This process will send an email to your guest with instructions how to activate access

Additional Info

For online access through student.msu.edu, the guest will need to activate their access after you have granted it. Please see this article (link) for instructions.
