How to Enable or Restrict Screen Sharing in Zoom Web Conferencing

Tags how-to public

Objective

Following these steps will change who is allowed to share their screen during a Zoom meeting.

Environment

Zoom Web Conferencing

Before You Begin

Zoom has defaulted to restricting screen sharing only to the host. This means other participants will not be able to share their screen with the rest of the group unless the host changes this setting. This behavior can be changed on individual meetings, or set as the default for all meetings.

Steps

To change the sharing options in an already active meeting (this method will only affect the current meeting):

  1. Select the up arrow next to Share Screen
  2. Select Advanced Sharing Options
  3. Under Who can share:
    • Host Only will prevent anyone other than the meeting host from sharing their screen
    • All Participants will allow anyone to share their screen

To change the default setting for all future meetings:

  1. Log in to msu.zoom.us
  2. Select Settings from the menu on the left
  3. Scroll down to In Meeting (Basic)
  4. Under Screen Sharing and then under Who can share?:
    • Host Only will prevent anyone other than the meeting host from sharing their screen
    • All Participants will allow anyone to share their screen
  5. Select the blue Save button that appears to confirm the change
  6. All future meetings should now begin with the setting you selected
