Objective
Following these steps will switch your MSU Zoom account to one that is HIPAA-compliant. Direct URL to HIPAA Compliant Sign In: https://msuhipaa.zoom.us/signin
Environment
MSU Zoom Web Conferencing
Before You Begin
When you switch to HIPAA-compliant Zoom, any users with a scheduling privilege associated with your account will lose that privilege. They will also need to be on a HIPAA-compliant account, and you will need to re-add them as scheduling delegates. See this
Zoom Support article (link) for instructions to re-add.
You only need to convert to a HIPAA-compliant Zoom account if you are tasked with handling data covered by HIPAA, or if you will be scheduling meetings for someone who is. However, standard MSU Zoom accounts are NOT HIPAA-compliant, so this process must be followed if the above applies to you.
Here are the features that will be changed as part of the switch:
- Require Encryption for 3rd Party Endpoints (H323/SIP) (link) will be enabled for all members of your account
- Automatic removal of device/user information in logging and reporting
- Encrypted Chat (link) will be enabled
- Text messages will be encrypted
- Offline messages will only be available after all parties initiate a key exchange (link)
- Screen capture will be disabled
- Sending images through chat will be disabled
The HIPAA-compliant account will retain the same access and ownership to all your previous data.
