Problem
When filling out a form in TeamDynamix (TDX), typing in a building's name does not result in the building appearing in the dropdown list of choices.
Resolution
There are number of options that can be used to select the proper location if it does not appear in the dropdown list when using the type-ahead search option.
- Click the magnifying glass button to the right of the search box. This will open a pop-up search window that will display all search results, not just the top five results.
- Search for the building using its building code. This will return the correct location immediately without having to open another window.
- Building codes can be identified from the Facilities Information Tool's Buildings page.
- Search for the building using its street address. Once you start typing this in, the location should come up pretty quickly. You will likely not need to complete the address for the option to display.
- Search for the building using one of its aliases. Some buildings have aliases that do not have as much overlap as their official names do, however, in some cases, the alias may still have overlap so it would be necessary to enter the alias with a space and pipe character after it.
- For example, "ENG" has too many matches, but "ENG |" will just return the Engineering building.
Cause
All MSU buildings have been loaded into TDX and the information is updated on a daily basis. Since TDX only returns the first 5 search results, and these search results are not ranked or prioritized, the appropriate result may not appear in the dropdown list of choices.
