Error: "Your Submitted Files Do Not Meet the File Restrictions for This Assignment . . ." (D2L) - For Students

Problem

When attempting to submit a file for an assignment the user may receive this error: " Your submitted files do not meet the file restrictions for this assignment. Please make sure your file is less than 100 MB and is one of the following file types: html, doc, docx, hwp, odt, rtf, wpd, txt, ps, pdf, pptx, ppt, ppsx, pps, xls, xlsx, gdoc."

To work around the issue, try converting your file(s) to a pdf. If it is an image, copy and paste it into a Word document and the submit the Word file.

Cause

Turnitin is only able to scan certain file types to check for similarity/plagiarism. This error is returned when the assignment has Turnitin enabled and the file does not meet its restrictions.
