How to Configure Windows Outlook for Spartan Mail for the First Time

Objective

Following these steps will connect a locally installed Windows Outlook client to MSU's Spartan Mail service.

Before You Begin

If you are unsure which version of Office (and Outlook) you are running, you can open Outlook and from the File menu, select Account or Office Account. If you don't see something indicating Microsoft 365 (i.e you see 2016 or other version), you should update your software as soon as possible to avoid any issues.

Steps

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Enter a Profile Name (we recommend using your NetID)
  3. Select OK
  4. Enter your MSU email address
  5. Select Connect
  6. Select Office 365 as the account type
  7. Enter your MSU NetID password
  8. Select Sign In
  9. Select to fill the Allow my organization to manage my device checkbox
  10. Select OK
  11. Select Done
  12. Select Done
  13. You're done! Your Outlook client is now connected to MSU's Spartan Mail service.

Additional Info
