For over six decades, MSU has managed the Emergency Phone or Green Light Telephone System, an extensive network comprising over 700 strategically located telephones throughout campus parking areas, walkways, roadways, and select classroom buildings. These emergency phones are equipped with features for expedited 911 dialing and immediate emergency response, even in the absence of voice communication. In addition to its critical safety functions, the system offers the convenience of facilitating on-campus calls and arranging late-night rides with the Capital Area Transit Authority, enhancing campus security and accessibility. Greenlight towers are also utilized as points for security cameras to provide enhanced safety to campus.
